| Soledad O'Brien We are pleased to introduce Soledad O'Brien, co-anchor of CNN's American Morning, as honorary board member for The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation. O'Brien came to CNN from NBC News, where she had anchored the network's Weekend Today Show since July 1999. O'Brien is a graduate of Harvard University with a degree in English and American literature. In 2006, she was awarded the Women of Power award by the National Urban League. O'Brien was also part of the CNN team that earned a George Foster Peabody award for its Katrina coverage and an Alfred I. DuPont Award for coverage of the tsunami in Southeast Asia. Soledad O'Brien grew up in a large multiracial family on Long Island, not far from where LeRoy Homer grew up, also in a large biracial family, both during the 1960's. Soledad's unbiased, outspoken journalistic style, in addition to the parallels of Soledad and LeRoy's childhoods, made her an excellent choice to represent The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation. Soledad was the special guest speaker at our recent golf outing luncheon. The Foundation is excited she has accepted this position, and look forward to collaborating with Soledad on future initiatives.
