Describe your present goals, your goals years from now, your ultimate goal. How do anticipate achieving each of them?
My personal goals have been called by many “unrealistic”-my hopes and dreams and aspirations in life have been labeled as unattainable. And for all of the criticism offered in regards to my future career path, few have offered those cherished words of encouragement and comforted my fears. My present goals are to maintain my 4.0 grade point average through the second half of my college freshman year, and to obtain my private pilot certification. I anticipate achieving these two goals by putting my education first among my priorities, and by working to raise enough money to begin flying lessons. Having taken a class at my university teaching me the basic concepts of private pilot instruction, I will take the written exam soon.

As for my goals five years from now, I aim to have graduated among the top ten percent of my class as SJSU with a Bachelor’s degree in Aviation, and to be working towards my commercial pilot certification. I will achieve these goals by doing the aforementioned and putting my studies before anything else, and by joining an aviation club on campus that would assist me on getting each of my pilot ratings.

My ultimate in life would be for me to do the impossible and become a commercial airline pilot. I have, since those early stages of my younger self, wanted to fly. I have grown throughout the years and have become fond of more than just the stars, but of the concept of flight itself. I hope to achieve this goal through not only my degree and education at San Jose State University, but also with the help of scholarship organizations such as this; which would make my financially impossible goals of becoming a pilot possible.
