| Emily Warner The Board of Directors of The LeRoy W. Homer Jr. Foundation is proud to announce Emily Warner as our new Honorary Board Member . Emily Warner was the first female pilot to be hired by a US scheduled airline. Capt. Warner began her position with Frontier Airlines in 1973, working her way up the ranks to the Boeing 737. She also logged miles with Continental Airlines and United Parcel Service (UPS) throughout the 1980s and 1990s before accepting a position with the Federal Aviation Administration, initially as an Aviation Safety Inspector and most recently as Air Crew Program Manager assigned to the United Airlines Boeing 737 fleet. Captain Emily Warner has received numerous awards over the years including the Amelia Earhart "Woman of the Year", the Colorado Hall of Fame, the Colorado Aviation Hall of Fame, the National Women's Hall of Fame and the Women Leaders of Excellence Award. Her uniform is installed in the Smithsonian Institute Air and Space Museum and her Frontier memorabilia installed in the Wings Over The Rockies Museum. Captain Warner is a member of the International 99s, the International Society of Women Airline Pilots, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and the Colorado Aviation Historical Society , to name a few.
